一、What is EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) microcurrent pulse technology?

The device transmits low-frequency current signals to the human body, which are recognized by the human body as bioelectric signals, stimulating the acupuncture points of the human body, thereby stimulating muscle contraction. This technology simulates the working mode of the human nervous system and can trigger muscle activity without the direct involvement of the brain.

Compared to traditional physical therapy, it has greater penetrating power, reaching deep muscles and bones. The treatment process is almost painless, with only a comfortable tingling vibration sensation.

Principle: Acupuncture.

Acupuncture is the general term for “needle therapy” and “moxibustion therapy”. Acupuncture therapy refers to inserting needles (usually filiform needles) into the patient’s body at a certain angle under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine theory, using acupuncture techniques such as twisting and lifting to stimulate specific parts of the human body to achieve the purpose of treating diseases. The insertion point is called acupoints, or acupoints for short. According to the latest acupuncture textbook statistics, there are 361 regular acupoints in the human body. 

Acupuncture is composed of “needle” and “moxibustion”, and is an important part of oriental medicine. Its contents include acupuncture theory, acupoints, acupuncture techniques and related instruments. In the process of formation, application and development, it has distinct Chinese cultural and regional characteristics, and is a valuable heritage based on Chinese cultural and scientific traditions. In 2006, the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences applied for acupuncture to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list by the State Council.

Abdominal acupuncture points

• Zhongwan acupoint:
  Location: upper abdomen, on the anterior midline, 4 inches above the navel
  Effects: regulate the spleen and stomach, promote digestion, and gradually reduce abdominal fat accumulation.
• Tianshu acupoint:
  Location: abdomen, horizontal to the navel, 2 inches away from the anterior midline
  Effects: regulate intestinal function, improve constipation, and reduce stool accumulation.
• Qihai acupoint:
  Location: abdomen, on the anterior midline, 1.5 inches below the navel
  Effects: nourish the vital energy, promote the circulation of qi and blood in the abdomen, and improve metabolism.
• Guanyuan acupoint:
  Location: lower abdomen, on the anterior midline, 3 inches below the navel.
  Effects: the place where the essence of the small intestine gathers, stimulate this acupoint through massage, acupuncture, etc., promote blood circulation in the lower abdomen, strengthen the foundation and warm the yang, and improve abdominal obesity caused by cold uterus and slow metabolism.

Is there any difference between EMS patch and acupuncture?

EMS electrode patch and traditional acupuncture have the same effect, both of which are achieved by physically stimulating acupuncture points. EMS electrode patch is easy to use and does not require professional operation. It is a physical therapy method that stimulates acupuncture points by transmitting pulse signals through the electrode patch in contact with the skin. This technology abandons the traditional acupuncture metal needle piercing the skin and uses non-invasive electrical stimulation to simulate acupuncture techniques. A whole patch is equivalent to countless needles stimulating an acupuncture point at the same time. It has the characteristics of non-traumatic and no side effects to achieve the desired effect. The wireless device can be used anytime and anywhere.

Audio pulse current is generated by an electronic pulse generator and transmitted to the acupuncture points of the human body through electrode patches. The pulse waveform can simulate traditional acupuncture techniques such as twisting, lifting and inserting, and achieve differentiated stimulation by modulating frequency (low-frequency analgesia, high-frequency anti-inflammatory) and intensity. The bioelectric effect generated by the stimulation can penetrate the epidermis and reach deep tissues, activating the pressure receptors and free nerve endings at the acupuncture points.
